I posted this to them yesterday: "I did everything on your list exactly as told. I was repeatedly told that I am not connected to the internet when it was obvious that I was. This has been the most frustrating, miserable, un-rewarding experience I've ever had when attempting to download a program. The worst part? I successfully downloaded the program and it was working fine, How do I know? Because I immediately received notices that various programs were attempting to access my computer. HOW IN THE HELL CAN I NOT BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET IF PROGRAMS ARE REACHING ME ON THE INTERNET??? BUT....because of some pointless goddamn "validation" glitch, I'm gonna get charged for something and then have it stolen back, I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO STEAL FROM ME. I WILL BE CONTACTING MY CREDIT CARD BANK AND MAKE DAMN SURE YOU PEOPLE DON'T GET A DIME FROM ME! I will also make sure that I convince the dozens of people I am an in contact with on several internet sites that the worst thing they could ever do is attempt to purchase anything from your useless company. Thanks a goddamn lot for NOTHING!"

I thought you went with McAfee? That sucks your getting the "not connected to the Internet" message. I wish I could sit at your computer for a minute and see what that's all about. But its quite possible it didn't install correctly or is not compatible with your computer.

amen, i will tell u my experience on downloading programs, but first of all this is antivirus, i assume, have u checked ur isp, to see if they have one for free, im on charter cable and they have one, but im also on aol for a small price, since i dont use there gee i forgot the word after all these years, tyler would know, the thing they have that gets u online, i use charters so i dont use aols hardware just the online software, but they gave me macfees security suite, for free, i had a tech talk me though downloading it after he had me uninstall the old mac i had, but they were the same, im sure u probably checked and know if ur cable has free antivirus, mine says its real good, but i know how macafees works so i went there, but on another note, are u sure ur firewall is not set to high,i think but not sure u would get the messages even if ur firewall was set to lockdown, i think i even may get macfees updates when firewall is locked down but not sure maybe not, but i have my firewall set to stealth, but lock it down if im leaving the pc,and also, u may want to turn off ur windows firewall since u have one on ur antivirus i assume, but u said a validation error, so maybe ur software is set correct, hey i had nero burning software, and it would not do a disk to disk as i have 2 dvd drives, it said error, so i sent the error, and it sent me to a sight to download a update to fix it, well i did that and then nothing worked at all, i could not even access my software, it just had that flashlight thing going back and forth forever, so it was not even on my unintall on control panel and it did not have an unistall, i just deleted every thing i saw with it name on it, in windows explorer, then put in the install disk since i had bought this over a year ago,, and it did install after one glitch which cleared up after a reboot, but it still will not do a disk to disk , it may have anohter way, but i have sonic by roxie which will do that but not some things nero will do, nero is the much beter software, it does everything on my pc, pics ,file vids, and burning,in all these years marc i have had so many problems, i know how u feel, just be patient, and check if ur on cable for free virus software, marc if ur on cable, i have been on aol for over 12 years, but i think if ur on cable, u may can do as i do, call them, and get the 11.95 month version and with that u get unlimited tech support on the phone, and free antivirus , macafees like me and tyler have, and even a computer check up program.and also one reason is cable goes out, so i have and u have to ask for this,i have unlimited dial up on aol for times the cable is out,, u can do a 9.95 but u dont get the virus or tech support or dial up,, sometimes u can trick aol techs to even go beyond aol and answer some pc questions.. since i dont have dell support now, but hate my cable email but love aols, and have had friends on it for all those years, i know they will give u free email, but i want the virus and tech support, and dial up,, first they sent me a letter saying it was going from 9 go 11 buck and 10 hours of dial up, but i called and they gave me unlimited dial up, but i have been on since i got my first pentium pc, 12 years ago,, and its 11.95. and i can go online with them or with just my cable ,,u probably do not want to do that if u are not familiar with aol , but if u do, i can send u all aol phone numbers to every department, take care,

F-Secure Security is a Internet security program, just like McAfee, AVG, and Norton are. What Moon is experiencing from my understanding is, the program is not connecting to the Internet and giving him the error message. The programs it was blocking while running, was giving the illusion they were programs from the internet, but in reality were only programs already installed on his computer, not programs on the internet trying to run.

New security programs often go thru a period where you allow or disallow a program already installed on your computer to run, usually a popup from the new security program asking you if it should allow it to run, and you have the option to decline or allow it. The program learns and remembers your selection next time it trys to run. Thats how some programs learn what should or should not be allowed to run. As far as the security program connecting to the Internet, as you suggested rosco, it could be a firewall preventing it. However I doubt it. becuase I'm assuming hes only using windows firewall at the moment. Most programs will adapt or configure windows so it will allow it to connect and run, and often times run along with windows firewall. Windows alone doesn't fight off other programs from attempting to alter the computers security. It sucks but that's windows firewall, which everyone knows is terrible on its own..lol

Of course that's assuming he wasn't running another security program that might have prevented it. But windows is very acceptable to other programs adapting themselves to it. And is why no one should ever rely on windows firewall as there only means of protection.

My guess is it didn't install correctly, or is the wrong program for his system.

The deals you speak of I steer away from only becuase it confuses my accounts and confuses me..lol I prefer a straight and forward deal without all the fuss..lol

well i would have aol anyway, even without the virus software it provides, it has 3 versions of macafees, and the tech checked and told me i qualify for the best one the security suite,to download that one,and he stayed on the phone the whole time to make sure it gave me no problems, they had told me to let them do it, since i pay anyway, after dells deal i had ran out, after i bought the puter, so actually i have the same things as i had. u know as long as i have had this pc i never checked the microsoft firewall, since i had the macafees, but the other day i checked and it had never been on, a guy at work did the port scan online at grc.com using "shields up".i told him about.. he had both firewalls on, they all 1054 ports came back stealth, which if they dont it will not give u a passing grade, then he turned off microsofts firewall and did the scan again and it still came back stealth, when i first got this macafee, i did the port scan and it showed i had some not stealth but closed, and failed me, so i checked the firewall and it had it on "trusting" so i upped it to stealth and scanned again,it came back stealth on that scan, when its stealth, it said on my scan after repeaded pings to each port, that my system never answered back and remained quite, that some test do send back ping to the pinger, lol, actually i forgot the statement, but some dont stay quite , so i was in great shape it said,, a closed port i think will be closed but will let a scanner know ur there,is what the sight said,, mine told me i was invisible to the internet, as far as ports, i just read that ppl and kids have high speed port scanners, and can run port scans on small countrys in not a long time at all, i forgot what anti virus charter cable im on has for being on cable , its a free download and it claims to be a good one, i will check later to find out, what the name is, but what moon has sounds familiar, so it might be that..seems it had an f in it, lol,,oh and yes i know that it ask if a program can access the internet i got those at first, till it knew who to let on, but i have had that on all pcs i had, and virus softwares, i use to have nortons, which is suspose to be a good one too, tech tv said they recommend nortons above all the others, but that was a few years back, take care
