So many times I say "Good Luck" to someone at the beginning of a game and so many times I get nothing back. No response. That just makes me more determined to break there ass. It pisses me off. I try to be polite and they reject it. Well I will continue to say Good luck because I think it is a polite thing to do. I will not be influenced by these assholes. You can be extremely good in chess and still be polite. I am living proof of that.

When they don't wish me good luck too my next response is "Thanks!" Of course they say nothing again. I get my revenge by kicking there ass in chess. This doesn't happen in other game like boatzee or battleboats, just the asshole players in chess that think they are too good to give a nice gesture. Like I said, it fuels me to make damn sure I kick there ass in chess. And I always do. I get the last laugh.

I say good luck to everyone but if I don't get a response I just take it that they prefer not to chat during the game. It CAN be a distraction. If someone prefers no conversation, I can dig it. Don't let it bother you. Good luck!

I don't prefer to chat during a game either, my intention is to say good luck not start a conversation. Saying GL doesn't constitute trying to start up a conversation in my opinion. You say it once and that's it. I could care less if they say GL back to me or not to be honest, but I notice only chess players don't say it. Some do but most don't. Other games most everyone says Good Luck at the beginning of the game.

Ditto. I also thank them for a good game if I win and a promise to try harder if I lose. I only resent those who see a certain loss on their part and let the game time-out instead of resigning.

A simple good luck and good game to me goes a long way, if you want to chat during a game fine if not fine. But manners I do take seriously. I have had many players miss the final move with no comment but send a private message , those I appreciate greatly and am more inclined to replay them, but any site I play on it is only games, I don't win a prize for winning, not concerned about standings or stats.

It's all about one thing: Winning. It goes like this. I would never start any game without a desire to win. If I didn't care, I wouldn't even play. So, if I wanna win, I wanna play well enough to win ALL the time. And NO, I wouldn't get bored. In the last year, I've done 42-3-3 at chess, open, 72hr, and ya know what? The 3 ties don't bother me, but the 3 losses still PISS ME OFF (but I don't admire Charley Sheen at all).
