Well I looked at the news to-night and it said it was about PENSIONS.
I was waiting for you to tell me that there was no more money in the pot.
Pensionable age has gone up from 65 to 67 and will be getting less money.
Now if it was to do with that cunning sod Gordon Brown I do not know.
Teachers and Transport were among the strikers.

How do pension and pay scales in England and the USA compare?
A few months ago, a scoolteacher (not a college prof) stood up in front of Gov. Christie and BITCH because she was "only" making $103,000.00 per year!
I think that's about 55k pounds and she will get 80% of that when she retires in addition to her SSA benefits. Are England's teachers so "deprived"? Our government employees are insatiable and yet,in the case of public teachers, prove themselves totally inept at educating our kids.

I would expect the US pays teachers more, certainly they do in Europe.
Our education system is good, they even teach 7 year olds about full frontal sex.

Most teachers in the US are notorious for being under paid. However, my Mom as a College professor in Accounting did pretty good.

If this generation of public school teachers were paid what they are worth,they would be paid even less. Just doing a little reminiscing here of my High-school days. I went to a public high-school and graduated in 1980. I did pretty good in school without much effort. I used to skip class all the time, sometimes with a friend. We'd jump in my car and go get some beer and drive around listening to music really loud, or sometimes we'd go to McDonald's. Sometimes I wouldn't go to school at all and miss the entire day. I'd go to the ranch and ride my horse or something else, anything but school. Don't get me wrong I did like high-school but I could think of better things I wanted to do. So my strategy was to pass my classes with as little time spent there as humanly possible. I usually managed to pass with a B or C grade.
