Well its in worse shape than I thought, all the frames have the same dimensions which is 256x256 and thats fine, but the problem is they all have different resolutions sizes, so its almost impossible to fix without making it from scratch, you have to make each frame the same resolution and size, the size were the same 256x256 but the resolutions for each frame is not, and that has to be done when making the frame, although you can resize and add layers the outcome will not be nearly as good as starting all over with new frames with the same resolution and size.

But anyway good workout for you, try another one and start a new topic in the "web Designing" section and we'll discuss animatio
ns.

My Jasc Animation Shop would not open, Jcap dll
missing. A friend sent me hers through PANDO
It is now up and running.

Butterfly Wheel...I still have the 8 Frames.
Gif 256x256....The size... Each Frame is the same.

You have me confused! The size also denotes the RESOLUTION in Pixels.

How else did you find the resolution to each frame?

The Animation program I have is now FREE but is hard to get. 10 Megs. Jasc were taken over.

What Animation Program do you use?

I HAVE JUST NOTICED THE KBYTES VARIES FROM AROUND 47 to 50

Yet I Duplicated the 8 frames in P.S.P.
Perhaps that is due to the Butterflies being added...which had to be resized and Turned.

Your mention of resolution still baffles me.

Well the two kinds of resolutions I'm speaking of are size and the imagery placed in the size, its much like a computer monitor resolutions, for example you can have a 17" wide monitor and change your screen resolution from 1024 x 768 over to 1280 x 1024, same size monitor but the resolution has been changed, and in effect all the pictures with the 1280 x 1024 will appear smaller because more pixels (resolutions) are being added, the higher the resolution the better the quality but it makes the images smaller. So what I was saying is yes all your 8 frames are the same size (think of those as your monitor size) but the images on each frame were different thus making it appear like the frames are different sizes when all it really could be is the resolutions inside the frames.

I didn't find the resolution settings by any program, what I did was used a program to extract all 8 frames with my image program call Irfanview from the animation gif and looked at them one at a time and then noticed by looking at each frame some were different resolutions. It could simply be the placement of imagery on the 256x256 frames that is different and its not a resolution issue, and yes the butterfly's being added could have altered each frame resolution regardless that the frames are all the same size because each butterfly is a different image and color.

The programs I use for animations I lost when I reinstalled windows, so now I'm using some online editors until I get some new ones, but quite frankly these online animation editors are pretty damn good if you can find ones that doesn't leave watermarks, and there are plenty that do and don't. Right now for the actual animations I sometimes use this site online gif maker and there main editor online image editor and a few other, but the making of the frames I use a program on my computer called paint.net not to be confused with windows paint, thats a free program and its a damn good one too btw, although it does not do animations, but you can makes your frames with it and do just about anything else but it steers clear of making the animations, but that can be done with other programs or places, its the making of the frames thats the hardest part. Those are links above btw just click those to check them out.

Thanks for info and links.

I have a 22inch monitor. What should the resolution be...I just guessed.

I have heard of Irfanview but did not know what it did. I wondered how you extracted the eight frames.

Making frames in paint.net sounds interesting,
must find out about that.

I first started out practicing in the simple Microsoft PAINT ... I could not mess things up in there.

I have more to learn about my Animator.
One step at a time ... All just practice for me.

I think the Jasc Animation shop cost about £90
When it first came out. Now it is free if you can find it.

A lot of work went into that Butterfly animation I did a few years ago..I had a smaller Monitor ... It was a good attempt, but I want to move on. Do something else.
Thanks for your help.

Usually the native setting for your monitor is the best, but if you don't know how to make your computer recognize what that is you might try "1024x768", a lot of people seem to think that is a good setting for that size, and some people like 1280x1024. Its really a personal taste issue. If I were you I would try different settings out. To do that try this:

Right-click your desktop and select "Properties", then from the tabs select "settings", and from there you can set your screen resolution.

I have a 17" widescreen monitor that came with this computer which is small compared to yours, and I also have another monitor that is 32" hooked up to this PC so I'm running 2 monitors at the same time, but I usually do one at a time using the 17" monitor. I usually will switch to the 32" when I'm watching music videos, I do that by one click of a button. My computer resolution is set to 1280x1024 which is the native setting for this monitor, and really seems to be the most popular, although 1024x768 is popular too.

Your monitor resolution settings will not effect the outcome of your animations, that is just for viewing, all sizes apply the same to every monitor, by that I mean 50x50 or 100x100 images are exactly that for every computer and monitor, the aspect ratio is the same in relation to everything else, but the different resolutions will cause everything to be smaller or bigger.

For your eyes being how they are, you will probably find 1024x768 the best for you, that is a very popular size resolution, and I would recommend you try that one first.

Yes I did too I think I was trying to resize a pic and took me 15 minutes, and when I got better at it it took me 3 minutes, but later I discovered you could do it much faster and accurately with other programs that were free, better programs that did more things and the things paint COULD do they could do also and with lot less aggravation. So I've been through a lot of free editors and a lot of online editors, and I've narrowed them down thru the years to just 2 programs I have downloaded and installed on my computer and a handful of online editors that I use that work the best for specific things. The downloaded ones are Irfanview and paint.net and a few other ones that are online are image editors are Free Online-Image-Editor and theres Gif Maker and this one a recently found thats pretty good and simple Animated GIF Maker.

P.S.P. Is well used by others, more to it than meets the eye.
I have twenty lessons on it and the Book called P.S.P. For dummies.
But I mostly experiment and ask someone a question if I am stuck.
I do have lots of screen prints showing me how to do things, I would forward them to you if you asked. But I WOULD NEED YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.
I CAN SEND YOU THE p.s.p. Animator.

Adobe is more complicated but a step up.

Apparently regarding Infanview... Windows 7 can do the same things.
But like you I have xp prof.

I have Adobe Photoshop 7

So has Brian but I never bought it. So I do not know where it came from.

Mystery to me. Brian uses it to crop because he does not have P.S.P.

I have twiddled with it but not a lot. Seems very complicated.
But heard it is the best. Using P.S.P. Is a challenge. I think you have to be very good to use Adobe.

Any questions on P.S.P. Ask the expert ME! lol

I've had people that have photoshop tell me I do better work than they do, and they are surprised to find out I don't use photoshop. I have yet to see anything made by photshop that can't be done with free programs.

Speaking of animations, here is one I made about a year ago that is pure images, I made it to simulate the image slider I used to have on the forums main page that is pure CSS and javascript and html coding, but this one below I made with an animator program on my computer that is nothing more than a gif.
