Incredimail's Dark Secret - Hijacking Malware

When I purchased my latest laptop, it came completely not installed with any type of email client.

In a way that was good, because it allowed me to shop through various options and in the end, I was suckered into Incredimail.

Incredimail, for those who are unaware, comes with cute animated emoticons and email notifiers. I just loved the way a tall dark and hansome cartoon butler would walk onto my computer screen and announce "You have mail Madam."

Eventually, I signed up for the paid service.... and then one day, there was an update to install.

I dutifully installed it.

During the process, it politely asked me if I wanted Incredimail to change my internet home page to Incredimail's "My Start" page.

I clicked "No".

Guess what happened next! Incredimail changed my home page.

Now, that does not seem like a huge deal at first. Annoying to be sure- but not a big deal.

As I have done on several occasions before, I simply went into the requisite settings and changed the home page back to what I wanted it to be.

It would not change.

I had to clear my internet history, change the page, re-boot and guess what? While the first internet browser page my computer goes to is the one I have set, any subsequent tabs I open go to the Incredimail My Start page.

I have sent an angry email to their crack support team, only to find that they have no solution to the problem either. (which, I have to tell you is pretty fishy and only makes me more annoyed with them because they seem to want me to believe it is a simple glitch in the program.)

Research into the problem has revealed that Incredimail seems to load their hijacking malware onto their user's computers with or without their permission. Offers no means of resolving the issue and makes no apologies for it.

My question is this: If they installed their hijacking malware onto my computer, what else have they secretly hidden in my registry files? What are they spying on? What are they tracking?

Incredimail has shown itself to be unworthy of the users it has and should be banished from computers everywhere.

WHAT A LOAD OF BULL...

Incredi Home Page is part of the Incredi SET UP ...get it!

Other people also do this....

My Start Home Page is included in the set up and is not separate.

Unlike their Tool Bar which is separate...(I deleted it)

I cannot change the My Start page or delete it with Chromes settings....

Yes it is evasive ....but like all things on the Computer there are ways round things.

SO! Here is what I did .....I went into Chrome settings and BY-PASSED IT.

Now I will never see My Start Home Page again. It was just a glorified tool bar anyway.

Perhaps not many people know this... I do not think IM will tell you.

So now that I am using Google Chrome only ...I can go straight to my Virgin Media Home Page.

I did say that many of these problems are to do with the Operator not knowing these things.

The IM service is free unless you want to purchase the Premium for the LETTER CREATOR.

Not everyone who uses incredimail make creative letters. The other bits that go with Premium are not really worth having.

I turned my notifier OFF .... got on my nerves...all I have to do is hover on my icon and it will tell me if I have new mail.

When updates are installed I untick the offer of their tool bar and My Start.

No good that person clicking No they have to untick the boxes ...which are actually repeated.

Us seasoned users know all their tricks.

The people you contact at IM do not know what they are talking about. They just give you a standard letter that has no Relevance
to the question that's asked.

However I have known an IM Technician to take over a friends computer and put some thing right.

Regarding Malware ...it is every where on the computer ... Just have to keep running the prog. to get rid of it. Repeat...we live in a Big Brother Age.

Incredimail's is really a critical browser hijacker program that can damage your system a lot, in this case you have installed this tricky program yourself but in most cases it installed itself bundles with other free software downloaded from internet or by visiting malicious website. it not only alter default setting, but also collect personal information and lend it to cyber criminals for further destructive task. It utilize lots of system resources and makes your system very slow and of low performance. Most popular antivirus program also unable to scan this hijacker program,it is difficult to remove from system once installed.

Hello Mr Smith
I personally would like it if you filled in your profile so I can have some idea who I am talking to. Not compulsive of course. But perhaps you live in Zambia North Africa.

INCREDIMAIL is an application. I can use their Browser But I do not.
No way does it damage my system used properly. Incredi does not slow my system.
I chose to default to the application from Outlook Express.
Never used O.E. Used Incredi for 8 years.
Easy to uninstall but advisable to use a special program to get rid of any bits left behind in the Registry.
Surely you must give me the benefit of 8 years of experience with incredi.

Collecting personal info is avoided if you know how. A.V.G. free is widely used and I find it ok. But I use others like Ccleaner and Super spyware and spybot regularly.

judgmental important, crucial CRICTICAL Browser (Do me a favour lol)

A.V.G. can scan my posts.

You know what...The English invented Incredi about 10 years ago. But sold it because it was so popular.

Incredi Has brought out a Tablet form but it is not quite the same.

I UPDATE incredi, but a lot of people download it again.

If your computer has a loose solder connection your in trouble.

I first used Incredi with a 10 Meg hardrive...but now it is very large, coupled with my Gigga Bytes extension.

Ere! Welcome to this site...Ere! did you say 1989

Thank You for your imput...

Most knowledgeable people about computers know incredimail behaves like Malmare and is a known hijacker of your operating system, its a troublemaker devolved to sell to the uninformed or uneducated people of computers. Incredimail is becoming a common phrase among folks that has devolved a negative aura about it much like the word "SPAM".

Stay away from incredimail has been my advice for years now, but unfortunately for some people do not want to listen to advice especially if they already paid for the full version. Its already trashed candy's computer before I'm guessing she figured out a workaround. But don't think for one minute that program doesn't have a stranglehold on her computer.

No I don't use outlook or any email program, I use online email clients. I have disabled outlook which unfortunately everyone with Windows has, if I could uninstall it I would but its part of windows.

I have an AOL email account that is my main email I use for correspondences, its aol online service that I use not the downloaded program that comes with the aol browser. I've found aol to fit all my needs for emailing, I've had it for about 10 years now, although I changed my email address about 6 months ago but on aol, only the address has changed. I also have a yahoo and MSN email accounts I use for various things like registering for things, that I don't care if they spam me or not, but my aol account I'm particular on who knows that one, because I read that one everyday and its my main one. Yes google has a email service called "Gmail", its an online service much like aol and yahoo, I hear its pretty good.
