I'm not dodging the question but it is really an apples and oranges issue. Chet ATKINS was (is?) creative directior at RCA. He is a musical institution and no one does what Atkins does better than he does it. However, Atkins uses little techinical support equipment and frequently chooses a classical, acoustic guitar. He is a musical genius who is versant in ALL genres and that's why he makes the decision as to who gets a contract and who doesn't whether country, rock, orchastral, blues, anything. Paul is another type. No one was better at the fretboard than Paul but he does not do the musically complex, classical things Atkins can do. Paul is a picker,Atkins' right hand is an instrument unto itself. I guess I am saying we would not have had the musical talents that were and are recording without Chet Atkins and they would not have the guitars, amps, and studio equipment they are using without Les Paul. Which is better? In my opinion, both.

I love Chet Atkins, his persona, his demeanor>>at 14 he picked up a guitar, and taught himself,I may be wrong on this, but that is the story,I think~
