Heinkels... Dorniers. yes they all came over at Xmas. direct hit in london on a shelter..killed 50 people...just like that. Dec 29th 1940 when darkness fell. 125th attack on the city. barely 30 minutes into the raid the Luftwaffe aircrew counted 54 major fires below....in 3 hours 130 tons of explosives and 22,000 fire incendaries fell. hundreds of buildings in the heart of london (The Financial District) were set ablaze. 8 Christopher Wren churches were destroyed. the 15th century guildhall was set on fire. a magnificent building. one bomb fell near the monument erected by wren to commemorate the 1666 Great Fire of London. Hitla gave us a day off on Xmas Day. Then Goerings Bombers started again.
