.•As Charlotte ramps up for convention, lots of Democrats stay put

All the parts of the 2012 Democratic National Convention are coming into place. The stage, the security, the thousands of delegates and reporters.

But something's missing -- lots of Democratic lawmakers.

Whether it's because they're facing tough races in moderate districts and don't want to be seen partying it up with the president or because they just don't feel like coming to Charlotte, a number of elected Democrats are sitting this year's convention out.

Here's a list of Democrats not expected to show up this week:

North Carolina Rep. Mike McIntyre

North Carolina Rep. Larry Kissell

Ohio Rep. Betty Sutton

Maine Rep. Mike Michaud

Kentucky Rep. Ben Chandler

I wonder if a lot of people are not as interested in this election as previous elections, or is it more Dems are pulling away from Obama. The RNC went well but the attendance could have been better I think, but the storm had a lot to do with that. In all fairness Obama did inherit a lot of trouble, and everyone knew the countries economy wasn't going to be fixed in 4 years. Romney and his administration isn't going to fix it in four years either.

Had Obama not made all the huge promises to have things turned around, his own words were if he didn't he would be a one term president, and he is still saying the same things 4 years later, i agree it was a mess but 4 years later it is a bigger mess. He is giving away tickets and providing buses to fill the stadium for his nomination on Thurs. night seems the 72,000 seat stadium was going to be no where close to full and for the media appearance he is pulling in anyone he can to make it look good. He himself may had a weather issue, out door stadium stormy weather predicted for thurs. night, but I guarantee the media will cover every second unlike for Romney . The biggest question for Obama is 'Are we better off now than 4 years ago ?' and the answer is no!!

I think a even better question is will Romney make it better in the next 4 years. Will some of his promises be unfilled much like Obama's. Is Romney the lesser of the two evils?, or is he just like Obama making promises to win the election with no real guarantee he can fulfill his promises.

I don't see Romney as a fix, I see him as just another politician making promises that he has no real idea if he can fulfill them or not. I'm not picking on Romney in particular, just pointing out these politicians will say anything to get elected.

I agree they mostly say what the people want to hear to get votes, many issues over the last 4 years all of a sudden are being addressed. Remember in the beginning Obama had control of both house and senate, during that time no budget was passed. His cuts to military health care (tri-care ) will hurt thousands of veterans and on and on. When Obama was elected this country was on the brink of disaster, with 2 wars, 9-11 corruption on Wall St. We still have wars, and more on the horizon, wall st is still unstable and his own people can not give honest answers on his accompolishments, they dance around the subject in many recent interviews. It will be a close race, he is kissing latino ass, catering to unions and any other tactic to please voters now. One thing you said and I totally agree people are just fed up with attack adds, most have already made up their minds on who to vote for. Conventions are a matter of protocol a big show and really do nothing to help either one. All it will do is screw up tv for thise who watch ABC_NBC_MSNBC, they cater to Obama so will hang onto his every work as if it were straight from the political holy bible.

I nor will many Americans stand behind a President who apologizes to a group of radical Muslims who are responsible for another loss of American life. The on going embassy attacks are unforgivable, and as reported on Sept.4th they had advanced warnings and ignored them. Romney called it right, this is only getting worse. I say cut all aid to Egypt, Libya and Yemen now and then blow them to bits. A small force of 50 Seals is just a drop in the bucked of what will be needed.
These attacks were not spontaneous they were well plotted out to coincide with 9-11 and I certainly don't buy the idea it is because of some B-grade movie. Obama better step up, stop worrying about his campaign and be a leader for once in the last 4 years. They can blame Hillary all they want , this mess is on his watch.
