I am convinced that Trayvon hit Zimmerman in the face and that act  started the fight. Case closed. I'm a harmless old man now,but I will assure you, that if some guy, regardless of age,hit me in the face while I was driving my cab,I would have shot him. I tried to once, but he made it around the corner before I could throw down.

I'm guessing you watched the trial on TV last week, I watched very little of it and not enough to form an opinion. My brother watched the whole thing. How do these trials get picked to receive the publicity that they do? Was that supposed to be the next best thing after the OJ trial?

r didn't catch my interest so I didn't pay attention to the news or anything about it.

I followed as much as I could starting with Obama's statement 'If he had a son he would look like Trayvon ' What a media feeding frenzy this has been, there are still to me alot of unanswered questions. Why didn't Zimmerman remain in his car as the 911 operator told him to do and wait on the police to arrive ? His problems are not over, now it sounds like the Feds are getting involved and another trial may be possible. I worked in Sanford for 3 hurricanes and it is the most mellow place I have ever been, the people were so good to all of us, I really hate to see a town like that being the center of a political-media circus.

I agree, Zimmerman should have stayed in his truck I do think he was profiling and stalking, if he had stayed in the truck and let police handle it.the boy was not doing anything wrong. plus Zimmerman had lots of lies in his statements. I think he should have been sentenced to at least manslaughter  or for child abuse,
the boy liked two weeks turning 17. he deliberately killed that boy, my opinion.

1. When Zimmerman told despatch he was following Trayvon,he was told "You don't need to do that". He was not told to "stay in his truck".

2. Zimmerman was not caught in any lies pertaining to the events of that night. NONE.

3. There had been many burglaries in that nabe recently and Zimmerman profiled Trayvon as a potential suspect. Trayvon profiled Zimmerman as a "creepy-ass white cracker". They profiled each other with disasterous results.

4. Trayvon was doing nothing wrong when he was simply walking home in his own neighborhood. Zimmerman was doing nothing wrong when he reported what he saw as suspicious activity and called the police.

5. The first wrongful actor was Trayvon when he hit Zimmerman in the face and he reaped the consequences. The original decision to not charge or prosecute was the correct one. The decision to install a "special prosecutor" was purely a political one and was shameful. The notion that "something wrong happened" and therefore someone MUST be prosecuted is ridiculous.

The only one alive that knows what provoked Trayvon to strike Zimmerman is Zimmerman himself. What the real verbal exchange was , will always be a mystery. But the sad thing is no one had to die, the police were called Zimmerman should have let them investigate and stay back and just observe where Trayvon was going, but Zimmerman had a false sense of courage since he was armed. The whole thing is just sad.

REGARDLESS of what Zimmerman said, Martin struck the first blow. An assault. Trayvon started a fight and he lost.

Was it so threatening for Trayvon to lose his life, was Zimmerman really threatened enough to shoot a kid ? He is 30, no health problems, why did he get so close to Trayvon to be within striking distance and what did he say to provoke Trayvon to strike him ??? The truth will never be known.
