Vat, i take it is" value added tax", will be 20 percent, does that take the place of income tax? like we pay in the USA, that is cut out of our payroll check...they talked about that kind of tax here, and im for it, but change is so slow, i doubt we ever do it, i think it was also called a comsumption tax, on all transactions even between companies, but it would replace income tax, but would help cut down on the underground economy where ppl work under the table and pay no income tax,, ronald reagan was for it, but its not on the radar screen now.but we pay a sales tax when we buy things at the stores, here it is 9 percent in most cities, but thats mainly a state thing, some states have taxes figured different way, some have no state income tax, but have higher property tax, to make up for it, each state tax is different,

is part of that tax used for ur healthcare, even thought u probably pay a healthcare premium, i think u once said, , actually if it is that does not sound that bad, i dont pay this percentage on all my income but some of the last part of my income is taxed at 25 percent, and no healthcare goes with that, but the first part of my income is taxed as a much lower rate, and the first part is not taxed at all i dont think, its on a scale, and it depends on tax exemptions and deductions also,,

Sorry for late reply...I had a feverish cold....better now.
Phew Tax is complicated.....at the moment I cant' find Tyler's reply to this subject.
But given time I will find my way around this site.
V.A.T. value added tax....is not the same as income tax.
It use to be called Purchase Tax...then... it was included in the price of goods that you buy.
Now v.a.t. is separated. Food does not have v.a.t. tax.
We are taxed on money we earn and then taxed again on it when we spend it .
Tax is to line the pockets of ......???
I mentioned this tax rise because I could invisage people going out and having a spend-up before the increase.
Consumtion means using up or consuming....Yes...It is all a Sales Tax.
Your different States have different taxes. Our Government Priminster and Members of Parliament..lay down the same Taxes for all England.
I think the new name of v.a.t. came into being in about 1972 approx.
tax that is added to the value of a product at the time of manufacture and paid by the customer at the time of purchase ...a tax on the amount by which the value of an article has been increased at each stage of its production or distribution. Hey...They got us which way and every way.

That's because I never replied to this topic. I don't know anything about taxes, therefore I did not reply. My Mom was a CPA and she always did my taxes, I never paid attention to it or tax laws. I mowed the grass, my Mom did the taxes.. lol :)

I thought Rosco was a Lady...well I never....
ok Rosco you are on my Radar screen now.
No... v.a.t. is not really part of our national health care.
Guess what...we have another tax for that...it is called National health Contributions.
That comes out of the payroll..or as we say pay packet.
