Barbara Walters comments on Jane Fonda:

God bless America!

Barbara Walters said:

Thank you all. Many died in Vietnam for our freedoms. I did not like Jane Fonda then and I don't like her now. She can lead her present life the way she wants and perhaps SHE can forget the past, but we DO NOT have to stand by without comment and see her "honored" as a "Woman of the Century."

(I remember this well)

For those who served and/or died.. . .

NEVER FORGIVE A TRAITOR. SHE REALLY WAS A TRAITOR!!

and now President OBAMA wants to honor her......!!!!

In Memory of LT. C..Thomsen Wieland who spent 100 days at the Hanoi Hilton [Famous North Vietnam Prison]

IF YOU NEVER FORWARDED ANYTHING IN YOUR LIFE FORWARD THIS SO THAT EVERYONE WILL KNOW!!!!!!

A TRAITOR IS ABOUT TO BE HONORED. KEEP THIS MOVING ACROSS AMERICA

This is for all the kids born in the 70's and after who do not remember, and didn't have to bear the burden that our fathers, mothers and older brothers and sisters had to bear.

Jane Fonda is being honored as one of the '100 Women of the Century..'

BARBARA WALTERS WRITES:

Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still countless others have never known how Ms. Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our country, but specific men who served and sacrificed during the Vietnam War.

The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot. The pilot's name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat. In 1968, the former Commandant of the USAF Survival School was a POW in Ho Lo Prison the ' Hanoi Hilton.'

Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell, cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJ's, he was ordered to describe for a visiting American 'Peace Activist' the 'lenient and humane treatment' he'd received.

He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed, and was dragged away. During the subsequent beating, he fell forward on to the camp Commandant 's feet, which sent that officer berserk.

In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from double vision (which permanently ended his flying career) from the Commandant's frenzied application of a wooden baton.

From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the 47FW/DO (F-4E's). He spent 6 years in the ' Hanoi Hilton',,, the first three of which his family only knew he was 'missing in action'. His wife lived on faith that he was still alive. His group, too, got the cleaned-up, fed and clothed routine in preparation for a 'peace delegation' visit.

They, however, had time and devised a plan to get word to the world that they were alive and still survived. Each man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his Social Security Number on it, in the palm of his hand. When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each man's hand and asking little encouraging snippets like: 'Aren't you sorry you bombed babies?' and 'Are you grateful for the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?' Believing this HAD to be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of paper.

She took them all without missing a beat.. At the end of the line and once the camera stopped rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs, she turned to the officer in charge and handed him all the little pieces of paper...

Three men died from the subsequent beatings. Colonel Carrigan was almost number four but he survived, which is the only reason we know of her actions that day.

I was a civilian economic development advisor in Vietnam , and was captured by the North Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in 1968, and held prisoner for over 5 years.

I spent 27 months in solitary confinement; one year in a cage in Cambodia ; and one year in a 'black box' in Hanoi . My North Vietnamese captors deliberately poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a nurse in a leprosarium in Banme Thuot , South Vietnam , whom I buried in the jungle near the Cambodian border. At one time, I weighed only about 90 lbs. (My normal weight is 170 lbs)

We were Jane Fonda's 'war criminals....'

When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi , I was asked by the camp communist political officer if I would be willing to meet with her. I said yes, for I wanted to tell her about the real treatment we POWs received... and how different it was from the treatment purported by the North Vietnamese, and parroted by her as 'humane and lenient.'

Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky floor on my knees, with my arms outstretched with a large steel weight placed on my hands, and beaten with a bamboo cane.

I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda soon after I was released.. I asked her if she would be willing to debate me on TV. She never did answer me.

These first-hand experiences do not exemplify someone who should be honored as part of '100 Years of Great Women.' Lest we forget....' 100 Years of Great Women' should never include a traitor whose hands are covered with the blood of so many patriots.

There are few things I have strong visceral reactions to, but Hanoi Jane's participation in blatant treason, is one of them. Please take the time to forward to as many people as you possibly can.. It will eventually end up on her computer and she needs to know that we will never forget.

This is so wrong for her to be honored after what she did to the men who were imprisoned for protecting our country.

There will always be someone that doesn't agree about something even if its obvious to everyone else that its true. Always will be no matter what the subject is. There are still people in the world that don't believe Man has ever gone from the Earth to the Moon, but they DO believe it was a talking snake that was sent to tempt Eve in the Garden of Eden.

Everyone knows of Jane's public protests of the Vietnam war. Its documented fact and has been aired on news stations around the world for years. Jane Fonda has done public interviews on national television protesting the war. We know her position on the Vietnam war and she will be the first to admit it.

I think celebrities like Jane should keep there nose out of politics and stick to entertaining people. Just because they are popular or done well in the "entertainment" business doesn't automatically make them an authority on politics. All they are doing is using there popularity status to sway there "fans" over to think and vote like they do. I hate it when entertainers get involved in politics. They don't know anything more about the world than you or I just because they sold a lot of records or movie tickets..etc

Am I supposed to believe that PINK knows what shes talking about, or Lady Gaga?

You don't know that she didn't betray the prisoners as stated. You don't want to believe it so you don't. I think its reasonable to assume she did betray them as stated she did. Shes a nut-case in my opinion. I don't put it past her to do something like that. Shes an anti-war activist and will go to extremes even if it jeopardizes her career. Jane has been an activist for many political causes, her opposition to the Vietnam War and associated activities were controversial. She has also protested the Iraq War.

All she did was slap the American soldiers in the face for participating in a war that they had no control over. Some were drafted. But all the soldiers that went were ordered by the United States government to go fight the wars.

She displayed little or no support for them when they went to war or when they returned home. I guess she expected the soldiers that disapproved of the war to standup for there personal beliefs like she was doing and behave like her. Of course, she wasn't the one ordered to fight a war, she wasn't drafted either.

Its easy to be noble when you aren't the one that has to do the dirty work. You can afford the luxury to protest people what you don't have to do. Jane wasn't ordered to do anything.

If everyone acted like Jane and did what she expected the American soldiers to do, we would have no military to speak of at all because no one would follow orders, and we would be destroyed as a nation and many more people would die. That would be the inevitable outcome if we listened and acted like Jane.

Jane Fonda was a piece of classless trash, she did go over to Viet Nam and betray our service men and women, my late husband was at a USO show in Saigon and she was booed off the stage. She should not receive garbage man of the year award or any other associated with this country. To me she is lower than pond scum.

Wow SSC you do speak your mind very bluntly.

What puzzles me is why SNOPES deny the story about the pieces of paper.

The English newspaper did say it happened, there was a long article about her so it must have been researched.

Everyone treats Snopes as Gospel...but did they slip up on saying there was no slips of paper.

Seems a very tall story to invent....

OK fine, lets say the email isn't true. So Obama is in the clear now from giving her any awards, I know that was your main objective to clear his name of that. Mission accomplished. But as I'm sure you are aware this topic has moved onto another subject besides the authenticity of the email involving Obama.

Do you think Jane Fonda is a traitor or do you think shes a great gal.?

I think Jane Fonda did wrong, but as far as the email states about the men whose name is involved that has all been proven false. I wouldn't call her a traitor, because many were against the war,I myself was against the Vietnam war,I think some wars are not for us to be involved ,I believe Vietnam was a political, money war, and our leaders made a wrong decision..
Now they are circulating this same email and involving Obama. the century awards were given in 1999.

We are all against war, but there are times when we must defend ourselves.
Nothing in life is Black and White.
I do not know why the war happened, I was quite young.

A lot of bad things happen during a war.

In every Country there is good and bad. Communism turned out not to be a good idea.
( socialistic ideal that aspires to economic equality and equal distribution of property within the community ) Jane thought it a good idea.

One thing strangely sticks out in my mind...that was the Flame Thrower, which was used to flush out the Vietnamese people.

The War could not be won because the Vietnamese people went underground.

I cannot judge Jane because I do not know the full facts.

Yes the Email was one of many that come through that overstate opinions....Opinions are what they are.

Jane's past record does not make her a great Gal. She was rather over Zealous in her opinions.
Despite what she saw and experienced.

Jane grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth and she takes for granted the lifestyle she had growing up and continues to have today. She doesn't appreciate or understand why she has the things she does. She takes for granted her freedom in the United States and doesn't think the wars we won is why she has it. She thinks she is above everyone else and knows more than they do. She passes judgment in a negative way on the very people that keep her free and living in riches.

This is not uncommon in a lot of people. The people that say "Peace is the answer" are shallow minded individuals that can't grasp the concept that the world doesn't stop and take notice to what they say, so therefore they are wasting their breath. They don't get that and in reality don't really care, because they are only trying to make themselves feel that they are above war and the people that participate in it. They really don't care that what they say won't work, it just makes them feel noble and above it all.

We cannot afford to give peace a chance like they say they want us to, because no one else will. If we let our guard down we will be attacked and possibly destroyed. I don't understand who they think they are talking to when they say "give peace a chance", why don't they tell that to the people we have to defend ourselves from. They don't get it, they live in a dreamworld where nothing is real. Its easy to make yourself feel noble and righteous if you just ignore reality and pretend you have the answers and mindlessly say "Give peace a chance". Narrow-minded self-righteous people is what they are.

Is that an assumption of yours or just another opinion.

You could be right you could be wrong....it all happened years ago when things were different.

This is a naughty question...Is America good at winning wars?

What is the success rate.

It strikes me that Russia is a larger Country than yours....

How can you fight Religion...it is firmly embodied in people with ideas of fight the good fight.

Is Religion really the cause of all wars.

Yes, we are very good. We have never lost a war. we have a 100% success rate. What is England's war success rate (not including the United States bailing you out).

It strikes me that it strikes you. Its a geographical man-made border.

It strikes me that our state of "Florida" is larger than your entire country. I think we could probably fit about 3 or 4 England's in the state of Florida like a gigsaw puzzle.

Candy I just read your post, yes I am very blunt in some of my opinions. If I believe I am correct I feel it is my right to verbilize my feelings. The many who protested against not only the VietNam war but many others have no place in this country. To disrespect our military men and women who are fighting for freedom and justice is just sad, and an huge slap in the face. This is not a political discussion, politics have no place in this thread, it is a moral issue.

I think speaking bluntly has its place on some forums and in everyday life, and there are also times for discreetness. This forum is usually a good place to speak your mind in a blunt fashion if you feel so inclined. That's one of the main things this forum is about. Unlike some forums we encourage speaking your mind, and if you feel like doing so bluntly, more power to ya.

I sometimes say things on here in a way that I might otherwise not say in public because either I don't think the person would take it very well, or they wouldn't understand me, or I'm too shy to say it so I put it in a more delicate way, or I say nothing at all. This forum is my place to vent, and hopefully yours too. If everyone spoke/wrote softly and kindly, sweetly and gently, always afraid of offending someone, it would eventually become tiresome and make for a boring read. Most people inherently like to read something interesting, and that usually entails someone that expresses there true feelings and opinions. Speaking/writing bluntly is always the better read for most people. But if you speak bluntly you better be willing to accept criticism because some people may have a completely different attitude than you and may reply back at you rather bluntly. Same goes for public speakers and comedians they get ripped apart by the media all the time.

The more successful speakers say what's on there mind very bluntly and carefully. But of course there are times for discreetness because maybe the place you're speaking at has there own idea of proper conduct for that venue. On this forum its is up to the individual to determine when to be blunt or discrete. Of course this forum has certain rules of conduct and subject matter, but its the usual standard stuff. For more info read here. But for me, this forum is a good place to be blunt but not all the damn time. You have to discriminate and choose when the right time is to be outright blunt. It doesn't always entail cursing or having shock value, sometimes its just telling it like it is and not tiptoeing around the issue.

Yes, we are very good. We have never lost a war. we have a 100% success rate.

1/3 of US troops were estimated to be drug addicted.

"We huddled them up. We made them squat down…I poured about four clips [several hundred bullets] into the group…the mothers were hugging their children…well we kept right on firing. They was waving their arms and begging…I still dream about it. About the women and children in my sleep. Some days, some nights, I can't even sleep."

It was the United States' first clear loss in a war, leaving 58,000 American dead. It had cost 140 billion dollars.

We held off the Germans for 4 years before America decided to help out.

It was a WORLD WAR

President Truman did not want to get involved, afraid he would lose votes.

My poor Father said where are the Americans, why don't they come and help us out.

In the end America decided to help us out BECAUSE the German U-Boats were blocking your supples.
