Fantastic short clip!!!! Absolutely worth a viewing!!!
Incredible four minute footage of a desperate Spitfire vs. ME-109 duel.
You feel like you are there!
Amazing computer work blended in with real photography.
Also an interesting factual story that most of us did not know.
History is rarely 'over'.
You must watch it to the very surprising end.
Now sit back and strap on your parachute harness ... it is the Summer of 1940 over the skies of England.
Listen to the perfect 'purr' of the Rolls Royce Merlin ...
Watch this full screen. It’s very well done.

I could also type "The German" in the Google Browser because the link would not activate for me on
Runaway Horses Forum.

If Germany had taken us over, I wonder if they would have taken over Ireland also.
It is not so far away.

I am so glad I have not experienced a War in my life time of 70 years.

My Grand Father went through Two Wars ...(1914 war) He was a Medical Orderly, Brave Men.
He was in the Home Guard in the last war.

I've never seen war either and I've never been in the military. When I was growing up there was no draft and there still isn't draft and hasn't been one since around the Vietnam war. Americans join the military because they want to.

Copy the link for me that won't activate and paste it here I'd like a go at it. bet I can make it work.. Very Happy

This has been making the rounds lately and I found it fascinating--I thought perhaps you would too--

It was tragic that Hitler was able to gain power in the first place--I suppose lessons from that have made us perhaps too trigger happy in getting us involved in all sorts of questionable conflicts since World War 2. I'm so happy that some good was accomplished and that you were able to survive the horrors of that war!

I do not blame you for entering the war late because I have discovered the reasons.

From an American Historian who studied European and American History.
He was a Teacher.

Father was desperate for help from you. But he did not know the reasons why you could not help.

Your boats were sending over Aid and kept getting sunk. You did what you could.

We ate your spam and corned beef (Bully beef))

Mother made spam fritters covered in batter. Your corned beef was nice with salad and tomato's.

Peace with Hitler was impossible.. He and his Henchmen were evil nutcases.
Driven by the obsession for an Arian Race.

Hitler did not want to fight us..but we declared war because of Poland.

The British liner Athenia was torpedoed by a U-boat.

This was at a time when Roosevelt still faced fierce opposition from isolationists
Supporter of isolationism, one who supports a policy of noninvolvement in the affairs of other countries
This puts a new perspective on Dad's plea.

I think Churchill was most grateful for your help.
Without it we would not have defeated Hitler.

Churchill was not very much liked by his colleagues.
But they bought him in to fight for us because he was the man for the job.

I was a war baby born 1941 April

http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/worldwars/wwtwo/battle_atlantic_01.shtml

From May 1941 the US Navy became a British ally in the struggle in the

Atlantic. By taking over escort duties in the western Atlantic, it became
involved in a shooting war with Germany, and on Halloween 1941, the
Inevitable happened. While escorting a British convoy, an American
Warship, the destroyer Reuben James, was torpedoed and sunk by the
submarine U-562.

This was at a time when Roosevelt still faced fierce opposition from
Isolationists within the USA, and escort duties in the Battle of the Atlantic
had so far been the most that the President could do to bring the USA
into
the war on the British side. However, eventually this undeclared German-
American naval war probably played a role in Hitler's decision to declare
war on the USA - in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor.

Incredimail has Glitches so the link code may have got jumbled.

The Link worked when I recieved it.

If I repeat myself then I apoligise.

Brian asked the older Irishman next door to-day about being neutral when he lived in Ireland.

He said Ireland was not at war with Germany...

Ireland wants to be a united country ..standing on it's own feet.

In the 1600's Ireland was mainly Catholic except for Derry in the South. The City was surrounded by battlements and the River Boyne.

The Battle of the River Boyne.

King James of Scotland (Catholic) fought King William the 4th who saved the City of Derry. James was trying to starve the people. The people fed dogs with mice and then ate the dogs.

Well I can tell right away that "The 'German" link was once a hyper link. Lets bring that poor link back to life again shall we? Yes I think that's a good idea. Lets make the link open in a "new window" too so you don't leave the forum entirely to watch it, one window will still be open on the forum. Also, lets make a title for the link so when you mouse over the link a little screen pops up that has a message telling us a little about the link. Lets make it a happy link. :)

Here we go:

No that wasn't a button I did that with code. Quote that post with the link and you will see my code.

What col button are you speaking of? And whats a "col" button?

The share buttons that were on the forum would not have sent the video to facebook anyway it would have just sent this forum page URL. But its useless if the people are not members because they would not be able to see the page unless they were members and logged in. All they would see if they clicked the link is the login screen. That's as far as they would get.

I removed the share buttons from the forum because it wasn't very practical for a forum like this that only members have access to. Because the forum is private (for members only) even the share buttons could not link correctly to there respective servers and is why they showed the red X boxes instead of the usual facebook logo and twitter logo's on other pages of the forum, etc. Of course my fansite is open to the public so I still have share buttons throughout the site there. The forum its just not practical because there is very little you can do with the share buttons here.
