Does anyone have any good ideas of a direction the forum could take? Right now there doesn't seem to be any direction or post to latch onto. Years ago its purpose and direction was based off of the IYT game site. I would make this forums theme more inline with IYT if I thought it would bring more members. Your thoughts?

So many people play games on Facebook now, IYT is slowly sinking into the sunset, no games have been added in years and his membership is low. I have no clue how to bring members.

We'll stay online indefinitely no matter if we get new members or not, I have no intention of ever shutting it down. A support forum I visit can bring new members, maybe I'll advertise there more.

I don't see IYT as sinking, I see IYT as a functionally stable profit making website, it may have slower years but is in no danger of going out of business unless the owner simply wants to get out of the business. But I see no reason to suspect they are going offline soon.

Iyt is stable I have been there 14 years. I see no difference, except the boards are gone.

Maybe SSC meant she thinks IYT is losing popularity so its sinking. However I never have any trouble playing games with new members they come everyday in the ladders.

It seems to me lots of new players,I have playing now.so ones that leave, others join.

Well the forum needs a direction or a backbone for its existence other than its my forum. For example, I love the ocean theme the forum has now, but a backbone and direction would be if I had a hotel on the oceanside and this forum was its forum. Like I said years ago it was IYT, maybe should be again. All I would do is advertise on IYT more, and redesign the forum somewhat to make it appear more like a game sites forum. I'd have some IYT graphics too. But I'm unsure about all of that.

What I am saying is IYT is advertising a gazillion memberships, but if you check membership lists many haven't moved in years and are not paid members, I dropped my membership not worth paying for, I play another site that has about 100 moving players, mostly as with IYT I have played these people for years. FB I am swamped with games but there is always new additions and the graphics are great and unlike IYT there is not the sexual hassle. I'm not saying Pat is going out of business, he is setting back collecting membership dues and not improving the boards in any way, nor monitoring the conduct of players, there is more sex talk there than on a porn movie.

Well those get weeded out, there are still a lot of other people that don't go for that sort of thing. IYT has a mix of people. I don't get many attempts at talk.

I chat with a few on IYT but like I said I have played them for years, plus it gives Gypsy a place to send me ranting messages when she wants to.

I think your idea of advertising the forum is a good one, what about a vacation theme of some sort, you are living in a wealth of vacation spots, live around a lot of historic places, Gyp has interesting places around her, maybe if we post tourist type info..just an idea

Well choosing a vacation spot would not be hard, but it only benefits that real-world establishment. We need an online establishment with a lot of traffic. This ocean theme the forum has now is my imagination place, I only wish it were my real hotel The slider looks like pics from the hotel..lol

Ranting messages?I asked how you were doing, Mark,I  got a rude answer, that I am not a member anymore,but that is ok.. I was concerned so  took SSC off ignore to ask, since she is the moderator. also how does one know sex talks  are happening if one hasn't been invited to them?

I think if we design the forum around a game site it would inspire the members of the game site to join the forum. It would also give it a purpose, not to say it doesn't have one now because it serves us well, but rather guests viewing the forum for the first time would know immediately what this forum is about, and would be able to more easily decide if they wanted to join. If you were viewing this forum for the first time would you know what it was about? You might guess its about Oceans or beach resorts, OR it was about a beach resort called Runaway Horses Oceanside and these members are fans of it.

I really am thinking of the guests first impression, and although this forum looks nice with the ocean theme I feel its lacking a definitive purpose that is clear to see. People have to eventually come to the conclusion its just a general discussion forum created by some guy. If people don't know me or were invited they probably might not join. Who walks into a conversation of people without knowing anyone? Not many. It seems right now this forums best chance of getting new members is by invitation.

I have sent several invitations, and I believe some do come here and read,maybe they will join in on the conversations,and topics..
At IYT I play against some very nice people,once in awhile a bad apple does appear. I usually put them on ignore, which I have several, there. :)
