Boy survives gator attack but loses arm

The eleven year old boy attacked by an alligator near Slidell remains at Ochsner Hospital this morning.
Devin Funck made it through a series of surgeries and blood transfusions overnight.
"Devin is doing good. He is still on the ventilator. They are going to attempt to take him off later on today," Family friend Juanita MacAuley told WWL First News.
She says despite the heroic efforts to recover Devin's arm from the alligator's belly, however, doctors will not be able to reattach the limb. "No, they will not be reattaching the arm."
She says Devin's mom wants everyone to keep praying for her son. "They are very grateful, and they ask that everyone just continue to pray for him."
Wildlife Agents and Deputies tracked down and killed the 500 pound, nearly eleven foot gator shortly after the attack in a small lake south of Slidell.
