Roscoe, I posted this on my little sie:"This question is for all of us. I fear something. It has nothing to do with politics. I fear not for myself, but for our children. I fear that someday one of them will look at a computer screen and be told that they have made an error and they will believe that they have done so. I fear that they will believe that they have done something wrong. I submit that they haven't. I submit that they have hit the incorrect button on a washing machine. No worse than that. The ingrained fear that machines are "taking over" used to be groundless to me. But I converse with young people today, observe their dependence on the internet for information, and see a disaster. Must we ignore (burn) the books? Is accumulated knowledge worthless? Is wisdom something to be voted on? Can I be wrong without being stupid? Now for opinion: The device that I am now using to transmit my thoughs is no more to me than a washing machine. It is a tool. It is nothing more than a telephone that presents my thoughts in text.It is no more valuable to me than the old Dodge truck I use to haul my trash. It is ultimately, nothing. If I could meet any of you in person, I would tell you so." (The media trashed this good woman for no reason and the blog crowd ate it up. Shameful)

hi marc, i bought my 2 girls a pc when they were young, there was no Internet,no windows, only a doss based operating system pc, 2 drive ,no hardrive, i got it so my children could learn from an early age how to use computers, and believe me that old pc, cost, lol,, it had a 8086 processor, if anyone knows that, next came the 286, 386, 486 and i think the first pentium was a 586, i think, ,, both my daughers, now work with pcs in office bookkeeping type work, at the time my x was using the same type computer at her work. one thing that is a tad different maybe but still about machines is i never if at all possible, i refuse to talk to a machine on the phone, i do whatever to get a live body on the phone, and i tell the person the reason, that a machine is trying to take their job. so that's my reason for not talking to a machine, if i order a new pc, i do configure it online but call and order it, from a live person, same thing in a machine shop , cnc ( computer numerical control)machining has about taken over , but still a market for manual machinist which is what i do. anyway, glad to see u posting marc, take care .. how is the dakota coming along, do u still have it???
