1/2 pkg. dry apples
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 can biscuits (10 count) butter tasting
Shortening for frying
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon

Cook apples according to package directions. Drain any liquid; add sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well. Roll biscuit out flat. Drop approximately 1 1/2 tablespoon apple mixture on end. Place small pat of butter on apples. Fold over and crimp with fork. Fry in hot shortening until golden brown. Roll in remaining sugar and cinnamon while still warm.

I sometimes use flour tortillas for fried pies, to me they have a better consistency to crust than biscuit dough, but that is good also ..we like peach pies~ and kids like cherry~ I think frying them in crisco better, but not necessarily for ones health~

Gypsy, how do you seal the edges on the tortillas ?

I seal the edges with egg whites and water just a bit of water, mix it, and brush on edges, and flatten edges with fork~ on both sides
