I'm going to choose "I Want Revenge". I'm not up on what's going on in horse racing as my interest in horses has mostly been in western rodeo competitions (calf roping, cutting), but I do make a point to watch this race every year.
Here last years race:
Big Brown wins the 134th Kentucky Derby (2008)

BIg Brown is a good solid horse, and made a fine win last year, The whole outlook may change as they are calling for 80% rain at race time, it could be anyones guess, I haven't read to see who is a good mud horse but that will be your winner.
I love the rodeo and go when ever I get a chance, years ago I rode in barrel competitions.

Well, "Mine That Bird" won, and what an incredible victory that was too. Left no doubt who the fastest horse was that day. So much faster it left the other horses in the dust. Very impressive win indeed. Man do I wish I put money on that horse, a lot of money.

Yeah I just now watched it again. The best part is about the middle or near the end of the video where it really shows in detail (better shots) the horse passing all the other horses like they were standing still. That horse without a doubt was/is much faster than all the other horses in that race, clearly the fastest.
Well, with SSC's barrel racing and your riding skills and my riding and calf roping experience, we have the ingredients of starting the "First Annual Runaway Horses Forum Rodeo"..lol
All we need to do now is talk Moon and rosco into bull riding, or maybe saddle bronc or bareback bronc riding.

Here's some short videos I found of the "Calf Roping" events I did when I was younger in some of our local small rodeos. This is not the footage of the events I went to, but just some footage so you can see what its like. It took a lot of training and practice as you can imagine with your horse, and you, to pull this off. I practiced it for about 2 years before I ever entered a competition. We had a 4-H club I was in called "rough riders roping club" It was a short lived part of my life I guess you could say. I never won at it but was good.

yes! that would complete the rodeo scene~
I can identify with rider and horse, they have to be as one~ to be successful in their endeavor, the jockey must know his horse, and be able to read his mannerisms, and mind, and the Animal always wants to please~ it is like hand in glove~

i know who won, mind that bird , i saw it on the news, im saying the favorite had a bad leg, and vets decided not to run him, so we dont know how it may have been if the favorite had raced,

The horse that couldn't race was ranked #2 and was my pick called "I Want Revenge". But I don't think it would have made any difference at all if he had, becuase "Mine That Bird" was clearly faster than all the others by a BIG margin, so much faster it made the other horses look ridiculous. No other horse in my opinion is even in his league when he decides to run as fast as he can. There is no reason to think "I Want Revenge" would have outraced "Mine That Bird" in that race, none at all, "I Want Revenge" would have been blown away along with the other horses.rosco 357 wrote:i know who won, mind that bird , i saw it on the news, im saying the favorite had a bad leg, and vets decided not to run him, so we dont know how it may have been if the favorite had raced,

"The trail rides"?? Is there a universal national trail ride I'm unaware of??.lol I've been on many trail rides at the ranch I kept my horse at, there was plenty of wooded trails. I was a trail guide for about 5 years. Our ranch also had horses the general public could rent to go on a hr trail ride, I was one of the guides.gypsy wrote:Tyler nice videos, brings back lots of memories~

this was composed of about 60riders/horses that we would take in the spring and again in he fall.. we had a club called The Trail riders

This trail ride was a bit different from just your ordinary,
it was a week long ,camping/trail ride like in the western days, the trip was around 80miles long~from East Prairie to Van buren. most rode it.there and back
it was a fun time~ and very organized
