US stands by two-state solution

President Obama's Middle East envoy George Mitchell has held talks with Israeli officials and reiterated US support for the creation of a Palestinian state alongside Israel.

Mr Mitchell also reaffirmed Washington's "absolute and strong commitment" to Israel's security.
