Thanks. I like Aaron Tippin. I remember once a radio DJ said he was country as grits..lol I believe that, his southern accent is really strong. I've been told all my life that I don't have a southern accent. My Mom was born in Indiana but grew up in Michigan then moved to FL with her parents at about age 21 I would say, and my Dad was born in Tampa then moved to Jacksonville, then later moved to my home town I live in now. Maybe that's why I speak neutral with no strong accent to speak of. However, I had a girlfriend once that was born in the Bronx (I almost married her), she said I had a slight southern accent on some words, but not strong at all, in fact, almost unnoticeable. I'm also educated, so maybe that plays a roll too..lmao

so education keeps one from having an accent?
most people say I have a accent, I talk fast so it is hard to detect where I am actually from. I was born in Missouri, moved to California at 19, an then Kentucky at 23
but to my own ears I sound country,. that could be an influence, moving to different places we pick up a speech pattern. I also try to pronounce words properly, but the slang does creep in..
my grand Boys sound like they are from St Louis or some city, they were born raised in Kentucky. Funny on how we develop our sound of speech, or brogue
Aaron is definitely country/hillbilly /southern all combined.
when I went to Pennsylvania was in the elevator going to my room,I was talking to my mom, everyone in the elevator stopped talking, and listened I looked around they laughed an ask if was from Texas~I don't think I sound Texan at all>

No I'm not saying that, but a education helps you communicate better. You notice some people (born in the US) don't pronounce words correctly, that's a lot of times due to lack of a education, but that's not always the case. Some people have a accent becuase of their location. I guess I mostly was talking about pronunciation.gypsy wrote:so education keeps one from having an accent?
