I watched Obamas Speech on Health care Reform.. Excellent deliverance.
I think he laid it out well.
so many republicans sneering an shaking their heads, he also told them that the smears /lies will stop,an they will be called out.
I think he came across tougher .. that is good
he broke down the cost an how it would be paid for, also good~
I hope it passes to benefit those people that need it.,an*** TO REBUILD OUR COUNTRIES ECONOMY.***.
I also love the thought he said about Kennedy an the letter, An we have to again develop America's Character,he is for the people in my opinion, and that is what we need~Bravo !! Again Obama, Two days in a roll the myths from the opponents have been debunked.. BRAVO Speech to Congress 592180

ok if anything happens it will be the pit bull, Rahm emanuel , he will now go to work behind the scenes on any stray dems.. it will be fun to watch no matter what happens,
i personally think and i like to guess and thats what im doing guessing ,, the blue dogs will get there way and Rahm will keep the far left in line, rahm does not play. if the blue dogs in the house are happy, the senate will be a bit easier, but it will be super close in the senate, they miss kennedys vote, wait and watch, lol,

I was anything but convinced by Obama's speech last night. If he says no new taxes then in my opinion the cuts to pay for this albatross will kill the middle class. Why has he not acknowledged the Republican health care alternative ?
I have great reservations on a government who cannot run medicare, medicaid, the post office and over see the railroads, all of which are going bankrupt as we speak. The bailout of GM and Chrysler will cost the taxpayers billions in lost money. There is no hope of these two breaking even and begin to repay back taxpayer moneys funneled to them. Since he contends there will be no funds for the illegals why has he backed down from the immigration laws. Does not the Federal gov. pay these hospital ER rooms where they are flocking ? So there you have it ..WE are paying for them, and we will continue to pay out the nose.
If this health care plan is so wonderful, lets see the President, Congress and Senate also be covered by it as well as all federal employees..I promise you it won't happen..

I was disappointed as well. The reason that SC Congressman hollered "you lie!" is because Obama was lying. How else can one say it? By their own admission, SS re-imbursements are to be cut by at least half a trillion $$$ over the next 10 years. Anyone who believes that this won't result in reduced care for the elderly is a fool. There is just no getting around that. More old and disabled people will receive less care and thus live shorter lives. That's it. That's not a "scare tactic". It's the simple logical result. If this isn't rationing healthcare, what in the hell IS??? One may make a legitimate argument that there will only be so much money to go around and everyone must share the loss but the elderly are much aggrieved by this loss of coverage and I don't blame them. They deserve better than this lying crap. I am fully aware that as I get older and start to need more medical services, I will hit waiting lines, healthcare reform or not. Adding 30 million or so to those lines will not,by some miracle, speed them up or make them shorter. The people aren't as stupid as the Dems believe they are.Reduce costs, eliminate waste, and train more healthcare workers? That would be a start. Then cover everyone;including those who haven't paid into the system.

marc dont forget preexisting conditions, ppl that loose their job and insurance need that to buy insurance if they can even afford it, i will not repeat details but i know ppl that have been turned down on private policys because of some silly reasons, that eliminating preexisting conditions would stop, ppl dont trust insurance companies unless ur in a big group like at work,, and with good reasons as they drop many ppl they cover, on private plans all the time, my brother in law, had a bare bones policy, and had to pay a huge amount in the thousands of dollars for his operation, even still they doubled his premiums after the operation, i said this to u because one time u posted and included preexisting conditions as something good, take care

Preexisting conditions will never be paid by any gov. run health care. It would be wonderful if it was but in all logic the gov. can't afford that type of coverage. The thing that worries me is the lines Obama spoke of drawing on health care, where are these lines to be put into place. Is the gov. going to play god now and deny further treatment to those in need. ? Thus we return to the idea of death panels ? In denying a person extended care is this not a death panel of sorts ?

well I hope something is passed to help those who have no insurance.we don't know what it will be until the bill is completed.,so most are second guessing~ I have never seen such a ruckus the Republicans ar causing. It will back fire one day..

"marc dont forget preexisting conditions..." // Right now there are 1600 insurance companies competing for business. The sad truth is,as I pointed out,in order to keep their costs down, they will and do deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions. If one loses his job and seeks coverage on his own,he can find himself shut out. Even if he regains employment,he may STILL be shut out. The government can,and probably will forbid this practice. OK, fine. But the insurance companies don't deny coverages because they just don't like sick people. They deny coverage because people with pre-existing conditions cost more to cover than healthy people. Stand back and look. Some millions are disqualified for pre-cons but WILL be covered in the future. Will their healthcare be free? No. Just because the government says it is the right thing to do doesn't mean it won't drive up costs. It certainly will. Every single one of these proposed "improvements" will add to costs. Whether it's the best thing to do is irrelevant to the accountants. Insurance companies, unlike the government, can't print money. If you think it is OK for government to take on this expense and fund increased coverages with printed money, fine. But it's that or greatly increased taxes. We'll see what choices are made.

Thank God the Republicans are concerned about all the little additions to this ridiculous health care plan. But most of all the loopholes the Dems have left open to access. That is where this whole thing will implode in Obama's face. Right now there is 1 doctor to every 416 people, just imagine what a cluster it will become to insure 30,000,000(million) more people, in the year 2020 there will be a doctor shortage of 40,000..And the Dems are oblivious to this .

This is exactly correct. We have "death panels" now. 1600 of them. But here is what Palin and others are trying to get across: If your healthcare costs start to rise steeply and the insurer tries to drop you, they better be able to make their case in court. They would NEVER have a "counselling" session with you in which they question your "quality of life" and point out how your care was a burden to them. Hell,no. But the government will and is required to in HR 3200. As I pointed out in another post, your doctors are NOT going to repeatedly prescribe treatments they know you will be denied because of budgetary considerations. You will be denied that treatment with no recourse whatsoever.

one can go read the HR3200 here is an url/link telling you where to go read it over 1000pages long lol!

Health Reform HR 3200: What are your thoughts?
August 3, 2:55 PMSF Medical School Life ExaminerAkpene Gbegnon

The health reform bill, H.R. 3200, is 1,017 pages long and is the subject of a lot of debate.

You can read the HR 3200 at thomas.loc.gov.

Background Statistics

Over 46 million people in the US are uninsured, and many others are underinsured.

Unexpected health care costs bankrupt over 1 million families each year.

The bill, summarized:

- The bill reforms insurance so it can't be canceled or denied for a prior illness

- It makes insurance widely accessible

- Creates a Health choices commissioner in charge of a newly created Health Choices Administration. The commissioner would create standards for insurance.

- Creates the Health Insurance Exchange. People without insurance would sign up for this insurance. The program will create electronic health identification cards for everyone, making determinations of eligibility easier.

- Creates the Health Benefits Advisory Committee. This committee would determine what is covered by your insurance, and set copayments.

- Federal penalties for people who do not sign up for insurance and penalties for companies who do not comply with government insurance standards.

Why some medical organizations are against it

"Providers and suppliers can't charge as much when they have to deal with a single payer." latimes.com

Benefits of a Single Payer System

- lower administrative costs

- funding goes to services, not overhead

Drawbacks of a Single Payer System

- longer wait periods for elective care, appointments with doctors, specialists, and surgical procedures

- chronic illness less well managed

What do you think?

What are your thoughts about this bill? Would you pass it if you had the power to? What would you change? What would you add?

well i actually ment it because they now are turning down ppl for silly stuff, i told my dr about a lady that worked with my sister that was turned down on a private policy, because for a short time during a divorce the dr put her on an antideprssant, but she did not stay on it, but the insurance company denied her a policy, my doctor just said that is so stuip, that what she took had nothing to do with any future health problems, i was not talking about a goverment health care, option, i dontt think that will pass, or be in the final bill,, if it is it will not pass, but does not medicare now take preexisting conditions, i dont think my mom had any waiting period on any health probs she had, well anyway im about healthcared out lol, im ready to just wait and see how it shakes out,,,

"well i actually ment it because they now are turning down ppl for silly stuff..." /// OK. I thought they always did that. HR 3200 is the final House bill passed in July and the source of all the commotion. I will never be "healthcared out". Universal healthcare without funding and staff would be a terrible mistake and I will never hesitate to speak against it. Medicare covers any and all preconditions.

You are right Moon, as does Medicaid cover all pre-existing conditions. The chances of this continuing under the gov. plan are null and void. What will kill everything are the little exemption write in's . This is already evident in illegals.
