From New York City jail, Mark Ingram Sr. urges son to learn from his mistakes

Alabama running back Mark Ingram stands with the Heisman Trophy after being named the 75th Heisman Trophy winner on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 in New York. Mark Ingram Sr., a Super Bowl-winning former NFL player, is currently in a New York City jail awaiting sentencing on bank fraud and money laundering charges.Mark Ingram Sr. hopes his son will learn from his football success and not from a series of post-career decisions that could put him in prison for 10 years, reports CBS.
The former wide receiver, who helped the New York Giants win Super Bowl XXV in 1991, is currently awaiting sentencing on bank fraud and money laundering charges. He watched his son, Alabama running back Mark Ingram Jr., win the Heisman from jail. The younger Ingram thanked his father in his acceptance speech in post-award interviews.

"He used to be so hard on me all the time, so rough on me and I didn't really understand it, and he always said that I would love him for it later," Mark Jr. told Glor. "Now that I'm getting older, I kind of understand it."
"They know when Alabama's on TV," Mark Sr. told Glor. "Everybody gives me the remote and we watch my son play . . "
This week from inside the New York City jail where he's being held, he spoke out about his son's remarkable accomplishments for the first time.
"He has to be his own person, be his own man, take and learn from what I've done by the mistakes that I've made," Mark Sr. told Glor.
