well i like some of summer, but its like walking into a oven at work, we have one of those lazer guns that gives u the temp of what u shoot, the forklift was 115 degrees, but it was in the sun, for a bit, i told the guy playing with it to shoot the thing outside under a covered top, so it was in the shade, it was 100 degrees,

u know when when we go to the lake , many times it rains all weekend,, i have known a lady now she was 29 then,i met in a AOL chat room and we still email,,, that was like 13 years ago,, since aol started the one system pay, and not pay for time online,, she lives in san diego, and it hardly ever rains there, i wonder how that would be, to have such little rain, but rain here also comes storms that takes down trees, on well everyplace has pros and cons on the weather. coast has hurricanes, we have tornadoes, cali has fires, and the high winds and earthquakes. i guess u learn to adapt where ever u live, i have nothing to compare it to, but l love the south. but i guess most ppl love where they were raised, take care,

I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate how much I hate the summer. Its pathetic here in central FL, my town got to 102 yesterday, and the weather channel said it felt like 110. I can attest to that, it did.
Need I say more? This is BS. I can't WAIT till November gets here so I can open my windows all thru the house.

Tyler I am with you, our temps will be around 95-97 for at least 3 more days with index of 105 or higher and that is on land. At 5:30 in the morning it was 86 degees . Then we get our daily rain storm and a steam bath follows, I love winter. I miss snow and cold and a cozy fire at night. Now we have bugs and humidity and ungodly electric bills.

I do not like winter, except an occasional snow, and Christmas, I like to play outside and in winter one can't play outside and grow beautiful things~ or swim in the pool unless it is enclosed.I will trade winter anytime for early summer, spring and fall~

That's probably I would guess because its in a metal building shop and it heats up like an oven. That's what our sheet metal shop did.rosco 357 wrote:its just been a hot summer here, in the 90s for weeks, and as i have said it takes ur breath at work, working in the yard is not that bad, but work is terrible,

yep and we have lots of big doors, i mean alot, but not much air flow, and i remember when storms use to come it would bring cool air with the storm, they even on tv said the temps droped with the storm, well this summer so far like ssc said it just makes it like a steam bath, the meds i take restrict my sweating as i probably told yall, so i have to watch out it said, but i still sweat, i move around to much to be able to stay next to a fan all the time, my brother in law keeps his house not real cool , he says it makes it hard to adjust to the heat when he is at work and he works mostly outside, but not me, i may be hot at work but when im here at home my ass is going to be cool, i keep the house at about 74 but at nite about 72 , and i have ceiling fans in most rooms, but i mainly use the one i sleep under, actually i get cold at the pc, as there is a vent here, that blows under the desk, well im rambling,

Yep. I have ceiling fans in every room. My computer room I leave the fan on high. My desk the computer is on is right under the air-conditioner vent too. I sit here trying to stay cool. I actually put cardboard on my windows to keep the heat out. The sun hits right on it as the window is to the east side of the house. In the morning it helps.
In November I will take it down. But it helps now. Not much but a degree at least.

i have fans in the kitchen and den and bedrooms, but this computer place use to be a dinning room , i made it a computer place, its at one end of my living room, i added on to the kitchen and added a breakfast type room, with a big table, so we did not need a formal dinning room. but all my fans i put up myself, the first ones i got were more expensive, but the latter ones were not expensive at all as fans got cheeper,, when i bought the house it did not have any,i wire mine in so i can turn the light on at the wall and not the fan, but turn the fan on at the fan , except the bedroom i have it so u can do both at a double light switch, one side being so its adjustable speed on the fan the others just have 3 speed, i have trees in the morning to block sun but afternoon the sun comes in over the drive way over the garage doors, so the west end of the house gets the most heat,

Well I just bought a house in Canada a few weeks ago that I will stay at in the summer time. We closed the deal today. Its a nice little house in the mountains. I flew up there via American Airlines a few weeks ago to look at it and I borrowed a laptop to stay online while I was away from this desktop. But the house is nice and overlooks a mountainside. You can see snow-caps on some of the mountains. There is a lake also behind the house within walking distance. Its kinda in the wilderness. But it has electric and cable service etc. So I will from this point on live there in the summer. Its nice and cool there in the 60s and 70s. I'll be leaving here in Florida next week to stay at my Canada house. Then in Oct or Nov I will come back down to FL. We have a guy that's going to look after this house here in FL while we are gone. And when we get to our new house in Canada I will hire someone to look after that as well when we come back down to FL for the winter.
I never been to Canada before until a few weeks ago. Its a great place and beautiful, nice people and the weather is soooooo much cooler. I am sick and tired of hot Florida weather in the summer, so I did something about it.
Here's a picture I made from the back porch of my new house overlooking the lake. I bought a new digital camera just for the trip. This is the view I get to look at everyday from my back porch. I'm very excited about moving. :)
kidding, I wish I could afford another house in Canada..

lol I wish I could have read what you said..lol That is however a real picture from somewhere in Canada, but I didn't take it.
Well unfortunately I have to suffer this heat just like most everyone else. But if I was rich enough I would make that dream come true.

my sister just got back from Disney world and said the weather was good there not as hot as here that it got down in the 60s one night, and like 91s in the day, but we have been for 2 weeks, in higher than normal temps, like 98 every day with 107 heat index with the humidity,, but its hot at work i have to wear, those welder sleeves to keep the hot shavings off, but as long as im home the house is almost cold, i lay on the couch with a throw over me i keep it so cool, and of course i always run the air in the car and truck , and the lake has plenty of air cond, but my son in law and his buddy's have been roofing the house they bought, i know its been hot on the roof, but hes young, its even hot at nite here, i think normal for this time of year in the the mid to high 80s in the day, but that high somewhere has been pumping in hot weather, my sister said in Orlando the humidity was not as bad as here for now, i only hate hot weather because of work,i hate to work in it, other than that i can handle it, my power bill is higher, but im use to that in the summer, in the winter the gas bill is high,, on well as they say if u hate the weather it will change, ,, take care,

Well that may be true but i guarantee you Orlando did not get down in the 60's. At best at night the 70's. I watch the weather closely in central FL and no way Orlando got in the 60's. This month or last month.
Yes I'm sure its hotter in Alabama right now.

i probably have told yall this but my retired boss, said if he had not been raised in alabama, and im sure when he was young, he had no air cond, and got use to the heat, so he said he would not have survived being in vietnam, that the weather there was just like here, he liked the hot weather, but he did not have to work like we do, he did drive around on the fork lift and tugger, but his office had air,, but most southern states have similar temps, they may change around some, when i was in basic in Louisiana, from may till late sept, it was terribly hot, if the humidity got to a point we got to do a wet bulb uniform, unblouse our pants above our boots, untuck our shirt, and if real bad, take of the long sleeve fatigues shirt and just be in tee shirts, but not if we were shooting, we kept out shirts on, we took salt pills back then , they dont do that now, we had to take them so much our thick green fatigue shirts got white with salt from our sweat, and we had to wear them more than one day before they got cleaned,i may have told yall this if so sorry, take care

Yeah Vietnam must have been a hell hole. I feel for the guys that had to go. Extreme heat and everything else to worry about. The sick part is there may still be some of our guys in prison camps over there. Sicking. I never understood why we don't go get them. If I was them I would be very pissed at the US. I don't understand why we don't make sure all our guys are out. Baffles me.
It got to 97 today in my town.

Can anyone explain to me why we did not make sure all our troops were out of vietnam??
They may be all dead now or at least really old. But why didn't we get them all out?? Now I'm getting pissed.
I can tell you this much, that would never happen today. But I don't understand Vietnam and why we didn't get them all out. It makes no sense to me.
Look, Vietnam is not a forbidden subject here, many people have strong feelings about it and I'm willing to express mine. I think the US did not do right by them. Its looks to me like we abandoned them, the ones that got left behind to die in prison camps.
That would not happen today.
