One of the most recent and cogent expressions of sanity I've heard is Cameron's statement (I'm, paraphrasing) "Parliament has expressed the will of the people in saying NOT to interfere in Syria.I get it,and the government will act accordingly".

Obama will consult Congress and will,I hope,act accordingly.

Are you for or against the United States attacking Syria? I kinda think we should attack.

With the world against an attack, it makes you wonder the reasons so many allies of ours are not falling in line.

I'm against an attack. A famous general once said,never interrupt your enemies when they are at each other's throat.

There seems to be a move toward voting FOR,not against.

At some point,if one takes the koran seriously,there will be a confrontation between the western world and a consolidated islamic world.They are not at that point nor is this the president for such a challenge.

Attack or no,they will evolve towards their eventual destiny and I think that will include a true WW III.I think they will lose that war.

But there will be a serious world-wide disruption of trade and international communication.Gross degradation of the modern world's overall standard of living, and massive casualties.I hope it will be a long time coming and that I will not be here.

After hearing more about this issue with Syria and how they killed innocent people including children with chemical weapons breaking UN laws by doing so, I am for us attacking Syria. They are breaking the law by using them and if we don't punish them now they will think we are not serious about not using those kinds of weapons and killing children, so I say lets attack in the way we have planned which will be played down and not as hard as we could, and if they do it again then we hit them harder and take them out all together.

I also would like for us right now to go in and hunt down their leader (I forgot his name) and kill him. Maybe he could accidentally slip on a banana peal and break his neck.

With no world powers behind us and Russia and China against this, it will be a suicide mission, Obama is to inconsistent in his actions , he is getting very little support here on this but he always has his big boy executive order button to play. First no boots on the ground now sending in advisors to train in communications..WTF...let the UN make the call and for once stop showboating.

Right now Obama has 10 world powers supporting his attack on Syria, they are as follows:

Allies: Australia, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

(The British Parliament, of course, has voted against taking military action.)

We could do it ourselves its wouldn't a suicide mission. Suicide for Syria to resist, yes.

Other than Saudi I see no real strength, no Russia, France, Britain, China none of the 5 major world leaders are backing this. Let the UN step up and make a resolution including sanctions etc. before we start lobbing missiles in the direction of Syria, it isn't like this is the first time such as this has happened. Right now Obama has no support on his own soil.

Emotionally,I'm with Tyler on this.If the USA doesn't oppose gassing,is it now acceptable?

But.....

1. The American people,so far,overwhelmingly oppose military action.

2. If UN co-operation is irrelevant,then close their doors and send them to London,Paree,anydamnwhere but here.

3. We should NOT consider ANY major military operation in that part of the world without Brit participation.

4. We have already lost this first test.There is no honorable and yet,effective,way out.

5. Iran just stated they will attack AMERCAN targets if we attack Syria.So who the fuck are we attacking?

6. And what is our goal? Assad has NO reason to stop gassing his people and will do so with Russian and Chinese support REGARDLESS of our actions.

Opinions: We are suffering the same dilemma as our prez and like him,we are in over our head.NO,we must not now,under Obama,start a new war.Our record is clear: We did NOT declare war on Japan until they attacked us. We DID NOT declare war on Germany until Hitler stupidly declared war on us.Since then,we've had draws and losses.Korea,Vietnam,Iraq,Afghanstan,etc. Barak Obama has shown NONE of the qualities of a wartime president.We must wait out our shame and strike,as we eventually must, with a better leader.
