Hillary Clinton dedicated an entire chapter of her new book to Benghazi, and she pulled no punches on Republicans who are exploiting the deaths of four Americans.
According to Politico, Clinton wrote in her upcoming book, “Hard Choices”:
“Those who exploit this tragedy over and over as a political tool minimize the sacrifice of those who served our country.”
…
(On the House Select Committee on Benghazi), “I will not be a part of a political slugfest on the backs of dead Americans. It’s just plain wrong, and it’s unworthy of our great country. Those who insist on politicizing the tragedy will have to do so without me.”
….
(On the Republican claims of unanswered questions), “Many of these same people are a broken record about unanswered questions. But there is a difference between unanswered questions and unlistened to answers.”
Clinton’s quotes above are the exact reason the Republican attempts to use Benghazi to derail her 2016 candidacy are backfiring. Former Sec. Clinton is correct. Republicans are exploiting the deaths of four Americans. Their immediate fundraising off of the dead is something that the media has found so distasteful that they have turned their backs on their entire select committee sideshow.
Benghazi isn’t going to work because it isn’t an issue. Republicans can scream about unanswered questions all that they want, but these questions have been answered in six previous investigations, but Republicans are refusing to listen. If the Republican nominee in 2016 tries to use Benghazi as a political tactic against Clinton, he will regret it.
The Republican Party has less than nothing to use against Hillary Clinton. Their main attack will probably be that electing Clinton means four more years of Obama, but that won’t work either, because the Clintons are their own brand. They aren’t identified with Obama. They stand alone in American politics.
America appears to be ready for Hillary, and Hillary Clinton is ready for the Republican attacks on Benghazi.
