I tend to differ, I think baggy pants is FAR more important. If you have baggy pants you're happy, but if you have a crappy economy, it sucks. So if you focus on the "good things" as opposed to the "bad" you'll be happier in the long run.. Economy Crap? is it,?>> that is a hilarious statement 503179

Speaking of baggy pants, look at this article. Hey, is this the kinda of pants you don't like rosco? lmao

PATERSON, N.J. (CBS)
http://streetknowledge.wordpress.com/2008/07/16/nj-considers-ban-on-baggy-pants/

- Instead of “stick ‘em up,” it will be more like “pull ‘em up” now that fashion police in New Jersey have started a crackdown on baggy pants.

It’s happening in Paterson, where city officials want to put the kibosh on this form of fashion.

Bart Johnson says wearing his pants low in a fashion statement, but one councilman is saying pull it up. He’s even crafted a proposal to ban “baggy pants.”

Teenagers and even little ones and women are sporting the fashion. The “saggy” or “baggy” look, where pants are pulled down and boxers are exposed seems to be all the rage these days.

Well, at least for some.

“I don’t know. I’m not used to wearing my pants to my waist,” college student LaToya Williams said.

Another young person quickly tried to justify the look to CBS 2 HD.

“My shirt’s over it … it shows the nice belt interior,” the boy boasted.

High school student Mikhail Josephs said the look is more than a fashion statement.

“When you sag your pants it can be either freedom of expression or rebellion,” Josephs said.

Councilman Anthony Davis tells teenagers to pull it up every day, and soon he’ll be introducing a proposal that would make walking around like this in Paterson subject to fine under the city’s indecency law.

“We’re tired of seeing your behind,” Davis said. “We don’t want to see your back side. We don’t need to see your underwear. We don’t need to see your drawers. Wear your pants.”

Some teens we spoke to were all for “baggin’” the sagging look.

“Sometimes you don’t have the cleanest underwear on,” Rayshon Johnson said.

“It’s disgusting,” Lohina Uddin said. “[I think they are revealing] a little too much.”

“I don’t allow it,” one parent added.

But others fear a dress code in an urban area could lead to profiling by police and that government shouldn’t be telling people what to wear.

“We should be able to dress the way we want,” Antoin Davis proclaimed.

Some say freedom to wear what they want and how they want is a long time coming.

“When I was growing up my mom didn’t like what I wore,” one woman said.

Cities have had a difficult time pushing through the baggy pants pans. In Irvington, N.J., a councilwoman recently had to pull her proposal after facing legal questions

Very good article, the issue of baggy pants is becoming a major debate down here, they seem to be handling it as indecent exposure if the pants fall...

tYLER,i Think that,is a freedom, of expression..I hate it also

but if they pass the baggy pants law then they should pass a law against indecent exsposure in women and their young daughters, it is a disgrace the way some women dress nowdays~

What's good for the goose is good for the gander, is that what you're saying? I think the pants issue is something that needs to be addressed as opposed to "undressed"..lol There are decency laws in effect that prohibits taking off your pants in public (with the exception of designated areas i.e. nude beach), they need to decide if wearing your pants so low that you need to hold them up with one hand should be associated with "taking your pants off". Its a fine line I guess.

As far as the woman and "indecent exposure" goes, I'm all for it, and its ANYTHING but indecent.. Economy Crap? is it,?>> that is a hilarious statement 822189

of course to men it isn't,indecent.. but for the over all women/wives it is~ yes ur right about indecent exposure laws, back in the spring they sent home a student (guy) for wearing a sleevless tshirt, but the girls get to wear them aslow as they want~ not fair for the gander, but fair for the goose.. the modeling industry is causing awful side effects for our young girls in society who try to compet to look like these models all kinds of eating disorders among other things..

The modeling industry isn't causing eating disorders , its the people who 'choose' how much food they eat are the ones responsible. Just like you can't blame the gun for someone getting shot, it was a person that pulled the trigger. Granted, guns are dangerous and you could argue the "gun issues" till your blue in the face, but at the end of the day it was the persons fault for pulling the trigger, just like eating too much, or too little in your "eating disorders" example.

yes I agree with eating disorder, but in impressionable youngsters they don't realize the side effects, and they look up to the beautiful actress/modeling industry, and copy it in their life style, and the parents are not doing their job sufficiently..

The point in that statement is ..The Parents are NOT doing their job !!..
not the models making a living, if society had not became so afraid of correcting children, lets just give in to screaming Johnny so no one stares at us in the store. It is so much easier to be submissive to a child than a disciplinarian, but in the long run who suffers....the child with no clue of reality of life.

You are so right! Modern parents try to be the child's friend rather than a parent. I think it is okay for a child to "fear" the parent's authority.

I have never tolerated ill behaved children. It may be true that Parents today live with the threat of being reported if they dare to speak firm to a child in public or paddle their little butts. I never worried about that. Does taking away privileges work? I never had any luck with that.

(Yep, I am a hard on discipline! "NO" means "NO" ...period! )

Figi, I totally agree with you, the kids today are being drilled at school about abuse, but truth of the matter is if a parent is reported the situation is greatly investigated and if it is a matter of discipline, the table can turn on the unruly child..I am from the old school, there is a very padded area that seems to get their attention. I had some luck with grounding for disrespect, and to take away a cell phone ...you would think the world had ended. Every parent is faced with situations with kids, wouldn't it be nice had they came with an instruction booklet. study

If baggy pants keeps someone from being hired, then it becomes an economical issue. Economy Crap? is it,?>> that is a hilarious statement 503179

its probably better to disapline children by taking away something they really like, but i did not think of all that back then, so i did as my mom did, and i had girls, if they did not behave, they got the belt whipping, but now as i look back , really its the easy way out for the parent, they dont have to hold out on keeping from giving in on taking away things the kids like, for disapline. the belt is short and easy.. what always got me is my mom would say, go to ur room, im going to get a belt and will be in there in a minute, and hold on to my arm whiping me, and me going in circles, and her telling me to stop crying,. i remember thinking if u stop hitting me i would stop crying,

My favorite from my father was, "I will give you something to cry about, if you don't hush! " LOL ! I always had to apologize for what I had done....that hurt more than the busting. Luckily, I was a quick study and only made two trips to the whipping post. Economy Crap? is it,?>> that is a hilarious statement 457757

remember when u go to interview for a job, u always dressed well, as in my case a machinist. u would not wear a suit, but jeans and a nice shirt, we only had one temp that was worth giving a job, but he did not even come close to passing the writen test,

The only people, who lower themselves to belt whippings over here to teach their children discipline are Muslims, I guess.

now we know ur problem. u were not beat enough, lol, , its just a difference in ur side of the world,at my age, i think all children my age got whipings, and my kids did, but not much, u know spare the rod , spoil the child, but as i said, i think keeping something they really like away from them,, is much better ,,i never had to go out and cut my own switch as many kids i knew did,

Indeed that would be nice to have. Ours are adopted and we had several foster kids pass through our home over the years. We were tough on discipline and respect.
