2 c. rolled oats
1 3/4 c. flour
1 c. softened butter
1 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. walnuts (chopped)
1 c. strawberry preserves
Put all the ingredients, except the preserves, in a mixing bowl. Beat at low speed until crumbly. Do not over mix. Press all but 2 cups of this mixture into a 9 x 13 greased pan. Spread preserves over this mixture and top with remaining crumbs. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes, should be golden brown on top. Cut into squares while warm, then cool completely before serving.
